Getting side tracked.

So it’s nearly time for me to start planning for the move back to my freshly renovated place, which has me thinking about furniture placement and the new pieces that I might need. Who am I kidding? I’ve been arranging furniture in my head for this space for over a year.
Tonight’s research project centred on the dining table. Before there was no space for a table, but by opening up the kitchen, voila I can eat at the table like a real grown up. But space is still at a premium so it’s either going to be a modest sized round table or a square extension table.
I would love a Saarinen marble topped beauty like this but alas, I’m not made of money. So instead I’m considering a nicely proportioned wooden table that I will probably paint black (something like the below). I’ve had a look on eBay, but nothing was right. If it looked good, the top was cracked etc etc.

Which reminded me of Home Furniture On Consignment. While there wasn’t anything that fit the bill this time, if I was in the market for a new lounge this could just have done the trick.

And if my bedroom was big enough to accommodate them, I’d love the matching armchairs too.

Not right for my place, but this Robyn Cosgrove rug looks good.

Ikat crazy?

I have to admit that I’m loving the Ikat look at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, my house doesn’t look like an explosion of Ikat or anything, but it’s creeping into my life. I’ve bought two Country Road scarves lately with an Ikat pattern (wearing one now), and if I had an Anthropologie just down the street I’d be giving these bowls with little treats in them to my friends as a Christmas token when we catch up this weekend. I can’t believe that they’re only $US8.

I can't quite remember how I happened upon these bowls today, but I did read the latest Adore mag earlier so I'm guessing they had these bowls or something else from Anthropologie in there.
